本ニュージーランド学会は、ニュージーランドに関するさまざまな分野の研究を進め、日本とニュージーランドの相互理解と学術・教育交流の発展に寄与することを目的とした学会です。その目的のために
（１）研究は発表、調査報告を主とする例会および総会を開催
（２）学会誌『ニュージーランド研究』の発行
（３）情報交換のための『ニュージーランド学会会報』(Newsletter）を発行
（４）その他、様々な事業
を行います。現在、年３回の例会（６月・９月・12月）を行い活発な研究発表が行われています。また、ニュージーランドに関心のある方々の入会手続きを随時行っています。入会ご希望の方は入会申し込みのページをご覧ください。

The New Zealand Studies Society‐Japan (NZSSJ) was founded in Kobe, Japan, in December 1992. The organization was conceived incorporating the concepts of area studies. It has two aims: the first is to promote and encourage research on various aspects of New Zealand society, and the second is to foster mutual understanding of our two countries through cultural, educational and scientific cooperation. The unique feature of the NZSSJ is that the membership is not limited to academics but is open to anyone who has serious interest in learning about New Zealand. We welcome members from overseas.The NZSSJ holds regular meetings in both countries. At the meetings, held in June, September and December, in Kobe, Kyoto and other locations, papers on various New Zealand topics are presented by NZSSJ members and /or invited guest speakers. It is our policy to hold a meeting in New Zealand every third year. The first New Zealand meeting was held in Wellington in 1999 and in Palmerston North in 2002. Dunedin was the chosen venue for our 51st conference in August 2005. In August 2008, the 60th conference is to be held at the University of Waikato in Hamilton.

学会設立10周年の記念事業『ニュージーランド百科辞典』が発刊されました！ この事典は日本語で書かれる日本初のニュージーランドについての百科事典です。最近、日本のマスコミなどでも注目されてきたニュージーランドについて、もっと深く知りたいと思う方がたのために編集されています。学術的な記述とともに、広く一般の方々が便利に使っていただくことができる項目を網羅し、信頼のおける情報を提供することを目的としています。 In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Society, Japanese Encyclopedia of New Zealand , was published in 2007.
